But Shukla disagreed to the fact that politics had helped him become wealthier and said “My father was freedom fighter and associated with the Congress. Jan seva (social service) is in my genes, which is why I am in politics,” reported Hindustan Times.



Subhash Pasi, Samajwadi Party legislator from Saidpur assembly constituency in Gazipur district, is also one among those politicians who have established the perfect business model in politics and his assets are found to be raised from Rs. 4.7 crore in 2007 to more than Rs. 35 crore in 2012.



Subhash, according to Parasnath who was from his native village said he was just a small time contractor who shifted to Mumbai and flourished only after coming into politics. This has further enhanced him to start his own real estate business. Not only  him, but his wife too, today is a successful businesswoman who runs a chain of educational institutions.



Congress legislator from Ambala (Haryana), Venod Sharma underwent a major career setback after his son Manu Sharma was found guilty of the murder of model Jessica Lal. In spite of this, he still is successful in his business ventures as an hotelier with earnings of Rs. 9 crore in 2004 to Rs. 87 crore in 2009.
