Syntel has formed Prayas in 2006.
Prayas believes in empowering children to believe in themselves by giving them the key to open doors to the world outside that key is education. This mission is carried out through a variety of educational programs teaching computer literacy and real-life skills that will aid in securing a better future. Programs are carried out at Syntel-sponsored learning centers as well as other locations within local communities.

Syntel was instrumental in the launch of SIFE in India in 2003. It played a significant role in introducing the organization to many colleges, expanding the quality of the program and putting together an accomplished board of directors from some of the largest organizations in India.

. Around 45 colleges are currently part of this program that has implemented 150-200 projects on a sustainable basis. SIFE places great emphasis on quality that will sustain over a long term rather than quantity. Leading organizations such as KPMG, Reliance Capital, HSBC, Eastman Chemical, and PriceWaterhouse are now part of the SIFE Board in India.

Syntel\'s goal for SIFE in India is to take the program to 500 universities and colleges across the country by 2012-13.
